Mount Olive Ballpark History
Opening in 1958, the park offered kids a place to interact, compete and enjoy the freedom of sports. Home Runs were hit, and outs were called as kids with grass-stained knees enjoyed being outside. But over several years, the park soon fell into disarray and mismanagement. In 2016 the community sadly discovered they no longer owned the park. With donations from several people and help with legal measures, the ownership of the park was regained in 2017.

The fields and fences were upgraded, concession stand renovated, and brought back to current health codes. After all the hard work and with the park being primed and ready for the community, Covid halted ball play in 2019.
Open and Ready for Everyone
As of January 2022, the park is back open and providing lots of games for two Ragball teams of 3 and 4-year-olds, a 5-6-year-old Co-ed T ball team, and 7-8-year-old girls team.

As the park continues to grow it hosted Spring Ball of 2023 and had 4 Ragball teams and 1 Co-ed T ball team.

Activities for the future are plans for an Old-times Reunion game, a Sheriff’s versus Firemen game and even a fall festival. Mount Olive Ballpark hosted its 5th Annual Motorcycle Benefit ride on May 14th, 2022.

Mount Olive Ball Park extends thanks and appreciation to all the people of the community who have helped restore the park to its purpose. Jimmy Stevens, Alan Treadway, Kyle South, Shay Shelnut, and the numerous volunteers pitched in and helped give the citizens a place to enjoy America’s pastime. We encourage everyone in our community to consider volunteering by helping to keep the park fun and enjoyable.
